…The fact that almost every cover for Les Misérables 1978 is funny as hell.
Grainy, awkward mid-sentence screencap? SLAP THAT SHIT ON THE COVER.
Not good enough? This time, angle it a little bit and throw in a gloriously
sexyout-of-place crop of Anthony Perkins. Oh, and make him glow while you’re at it.
And my personal favorite:
Out of the way, France, JVJ’s got asses to kick.
I’m sure you can provide better commentary than me for this one.
HAHA. Either they deliberately added more hair to Dick Jordan’s already luxurious mane of wonder in my third example or they chopped some off in yours to make room for some bad prison graphics, Anthony Perkins’s comically large hat and a stock frame that screams ’90s Masterpiece Theater.
Continuing the theme of this post, we have this hilarious ‘78 rehash cover that I found on a Google expedition.
I don’t even know where to start with this one. From the abundant evidence of the musical’s monopolistic hold on the Les Misérables franchise…
…to the fact that Richard Jordan isn’t even mentioned once on this jacket (while Ian Holm - Thénardier - with his roughly two minutes of screen time, gets top billing), oh man. This is a chuckle fest.
